| Job Description: | This position will focus on a customer service approach toward the enforcement of the Town codes and N.C. Building Code. Responsible for conducting investigations related to land use, zoning, dangerous structures, health and safety, signs, illegal signage, weed abatement, abandoned/junk vehicles, and related town ordinances, to determine violations and gain compliance. Includes responding to complaints, patrolling the community to observe violations, performing inspections, issuing notices of violations and citations, conducting follow-up inspections and holding fact-finding hearings and carrying out orders of abatement. Will work under the supervision of the Chief Building Inspector to conduct inspections and enforcement of minimum housing standards. Work is performed under regular supervision. Education and Experience: Must have Level I Standard Certifications from North Carolina Department of Insurance in Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical and Building to perform building inspections as directed. A combination of education and experience in the field may be considered. |

| Job Description: | The Director of the Engineering & Inspections Department is seeking a highly motivated, professional candidate for the position of Development Services Manager. The responsibilities of this position are to manage the City’s site and building plan review, coordinate the division’s TRC process, and manage the day-to-day requirements of enforcing State Building Code on all construction. Directly responsible for providing on-call services to evaluate structural damage due to fire or vehicular accidents, and to represent the Division at community meetings and presentations. This position will ensure that building, mechanical, electrical and plumbing plan review and site inspections are performed according to ordinances and code requirements, and that TRC requirements for Fire, Storm Water, Water & Sewer, Transportation, Planning and Engineering are implemented, while providing development customers with professional, efficient and courteous service. The candidate must be able to work well with contractors, developers, architects, engineers, the general public, and the City Council. Must have the ability to manage a very diverse group of individuals with a wide range of knowledge and very specialized areas of expertise. This position will manage thirty employees, including trade inspectors, soil erosion inspector, permit technicians, plans examiner, and administrative staff. In addition, is responsible for coordinating workflow process for approximately 10 representatives from other City departments for the Development Services' TRC process. This job is Exempt and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. |
