Jesse Franklin Allred, NCDOI Chief Code Consultant
“Good Morning.” And he meant it.
That’s the way Jesse Allred, PE welcomed everyone each day in his office. He always presented a positive attitude to his Staff and to everyone he came in contact with.
Mr. Allred joined the NC Department of Insurance in 1972 after a long service with the Tennessee Valley Authority. He came with a vast knowledge and history in Structural Engineering to serve as the Chief Structural Engineer. He developed a respect from Code Enforcement Officials, Contractors, Designers and the Public.
“Jesse had a strong work ethic. You might call him a work-aholic. He would not say ‘no’ to any request unless he had explored all the options first. You could find Jess hard at work in his office almost anytime.”
The NC Building Inspectors’ Association twice awarded Mr. Allred the Distinguished Service Award. Mr. Allred was awarded the Edison Hubert Johnson Award in 1984 and named the Building Inspector of the Year in 1992, NCBIA’s top two honors.
Mr. Allred served on numerous Committees of the Building Code Council, NCBIA and Southern Building Code Congress International. He served as Secretary/Treasurer to the NCBIA from 1988 through 1994. Mr. Allred was a registered Professional Engineer. He held an undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University as well as a graduate degree from the University of Tennessee in Civil Engineering.
“Therefore, be it resolved that Jesse Franklin Allred be recognized and revered in the history of the North Carolina Building Inspectors’ Association, this day June 27, 2000 and forever after.”
