Why Become A Member Of The NCBIA?

The NCBIA is an association dedicated to the development of Code Officials. We strive to achieve this by educating our members and others involved in the construction industry. We also are dedicated to the Integrity and Professionalism of Code Officials. That is why we support mandatory continuing education and improving the process for professional certification of Code Officials. In addition to our educational and annual meetings we provide scholarships for the children of our active members. It is the mission of the association to serve the needs of our members and the public by always striving to improve the quality of enforcement of the codes, which deal with the health, and safety of the public.

Who Can Become A Member?

Our association has several types of members, which makes it possible for anyone to be a member.

      ACTIVE MEMBER: This class of membership is for certified code officials who are actively engaged in enforcing the building codes. This level of membership has voting rights. Educational seminars and meetings at a reduced rate.

      ASSOCIATE MEMBER: This class of membership is for all interested parties. We have a lot of design professionals, contractors, as well as trade associations who are associate members. Educational seminars and meetings at a reduced rate.

What Are The Benefits Of Being A Member?

You are part of an organization, which exists to represent the code enforcement community, and are dedicated to better code standards and enforcement. We provide education for code officials and others who are members at a reduced rate. We provide scholarships for the children of active members. We provide web links to nationally recognized standards and agencies. We keep abreast of legislative issues that may affect our members and support those which are for the betterment of the code process. In addition we have been known to oppose those that we felt were detrimental to the code process in North Carolina. We work regionally, nationally and at the state level on code development issues.
